So Many Places to Explore in West Dorset

THE WEST DORSET AREA

For anyone looking for an active holiday, there’s no need to use the car for a week if walking is your passion. We provide OS maps of the area and can help you plan routes to suit your appetite, which can include places to stop on the way. There are several long-distance paths nearby – South West Coast Path, Jubilee Way, Monarch’s Way.

CYCLING

Explore along seldom used country lanes nearby with plenty of hills to get the heart rate going. For mountain bikers there are bridleways to be accessed from Chideock so there is no need to use the car.  There is a secure bracket to lock your bikes to on both Stable and Barn Cottage as well as a two-bike cover for you to use.

WALKING

One of the many reasons people visit the area is to walk the Jurassic coast and good walking it is too in both directions. The SW Coast Path is just fifteen minutes down the lane.

Most of the surrounding area, including the Golden Cap estate, is managed by the National Trust and the footpaths are well-maintained and signposted.

FISHING

Boat trips charters are available from both West Bay and Lyme Regis and you can fish from the beach at Seatown just down the lane. Shoals of mackerel come in during the summer months closely followed by sea bass. There is coarse fishing at Mangerton Mill near Bridport and some river fishing available on the River Axe.
